About Warrnambool

Warrnambool, the regional centre of southwest Victoria is a seaside town of 35,000 at the west end of The Great Ocean Road, and three hours travel from Melbourne. It has a thriving medical community, with an ever-expanding regional base hospital where Deakin University hosts medical students in the final two years of their medical training, as well as a private hospital, St John of God.  It’s well served by a selection of excellent primary schools and choice of four secondary colleges.

It’s coastal location makes surfing, fishing, boating, beach rambling, scuba diving, and water skiing popular past times, and it’s home to one of regional Victoria’s largest play grounds located on the edge of the Lake Pertobe wet land reserve. Culinary delights are on offer at the flourishing local farmer’s market, or you can take a short drive to the fine dining and festival mecca of Port Fairy, or the Timboon hinterland.

It has a proud and active arts community, full of talented musicians, dancers, youth actors and artists as well as a packed smorgasboard of sporting clubs.
